The Daily Mail provides a table illustrating that Thames Water is NOT the only Water Utility that have had fines handed down after prosecutions brought by the Environment Agency.
The real issue is whether a fine of £20million is sufficiently large to act as a deterrent against repeat occurrence by these Water Utilities, not just Thames Water.
If the decision-makers been fined instead (through lifting the “corporate veil”), then this disgraceful incident may not have occurred.
